A dental prosthetic device is used to reconstruct defects such as missing teeth or missing soft and hard structures of the jaw and palate.

Usually, these appliances are used to improve chewing, aesthetics and sometimes to help with speech.

Dental prosthesis can either be fixed or removable. Fixed prostheses are traditionally held in place with a luting agent, adhesive or screws by connecting to existing teeth or dental implants. Removable prosthesis are usually retained by suction, wires, or sometimes precision attachments to implants or teeth.

DENTAL PROSTHETICS

These titanium fixtures are surgically placed into the jaw bone and subsequently become Osseo integrated to the surrounding bone. Once integrated, a crown or bridge can be attached to these fixtures to replace the missing teeth.

If the surrounding bone or gums are deficient in quantity and quality, surgical grafting of additional bone and soft tissue is strongly recommended especially in the aesthetic zone where the area of concern is visible when the patient smiles or speaks.

DENTAL PROSTHETICS

Dentures are designed to replace a whole set or a partial set of teeth in the upper or lower arch. These are custom designed to fit comfortably in your mouth and have the appearance of natural teeth. These are easily removed for cleaning or they can be fixed using dental implants and removed when needed. 

At Generations Dental, we can make acrylic dentures, Cobalt chrome dentures or dentures from Valplast like material.

We recommend that dentures are checked and refitted every seven years. We can repair any damage that your dentures may have and ensure they fit correctly in your mouth.

DENTAL PROSTHETICS

Crowns and bridges are a fixed prosthetic option that are used to replace missing teeth or restore broken down, damaged or uneven teeth. They are made from zirconia, porcelain or a metal alloy material. When aesthetics count, they are made to have a natural appearance and can blend in with the surrounding natural teeth.

DENTAL PROSTHETICS

Sleep appliance mouthguards are custom fitted and are designed to ease the strain on teeth and jaws to allow you to breathe more easily while sleeping at night. Perfect for people who suffer from sleep apnoea or grinding teeth while they sleep.

For contact sport, a proper fitted mouthpiece is important to protect your teeth and jaw from damage. If you are still growing, mouthguards should be assessed for replacement every year. We can take the mould to custom make a mouthguard for you, here at the clinic.
